 School Programs & Choices Guidance

Choices

Every school day 7,000 teens become high school dropouts in the US. Many of them grow up to be jobless, homeless, dependent on government assistance, and moving in and out of the prison system. The personal cost to them is devastating, and social cost to the rest of us is astronomical.  In addition, the impact on our workforce is debilitating - that's 1.2 million more unqualified workers each year. We are indeed a nation at  risk.

CHOICES is an interactive decision making workshop that focuses on keeping teens in school, motivating them toward their education and future, and introducing them to practical life skills to help them succeed.  CHOICES empowers teens to achieve academic success in pursuit of their career and life aspirations.

In two 40 - 50-minute sessions, students are guided through real-world exercises on academic self-discipline, time and money management, and goal setting. Teens discover that they can take charge of their lives.

CHOICES is typically presented at the 7th 8th or 9th grade level, since these students are old enough to envision the future, yet young enough to develop positive skills and habits for success in high school and beyond.
